Founders
Dr. Markus Jakobsson (CTO) is the Principal Scientist of Consumer Security at PayPal, and a founder of the security startups RavenWhite and Fatskunk. Previously, he has held positions as Principal Scientist at Xerox PARC, Associate Professor at Indiana University, Adjunct Associate Professor at New York University, Principal Research Scientist at RSA Security, and member of the Technical Staff at Bell Labs. He is a visiting research fellow of the Anti-Phishing Working Group, and serves on the technical advisory boards of Cellfony and Lifelock. His research is focused on socio-technical fraud; he has contributed to the knowledge of phishing, crimeware and efficient cryptographic protocols, and is currently focusing his efforts on mobile malware. He is an editor/author of “Phishing and Countermeasures” (Wiley, 2006), “Crimeware: Understanding New Attacks and Defenses” (Symantec Press, 2008) and “The Death of the Internet” (Wiley, forthcoming) He received his PhD in computer science from University of California at San Diego in 1997.
Karl-Anders Johansson (VP of Engineering) is a recognized mobile telephony specialist and a serial entrepreneur. Prior to co-founding FatSkunk, he co-founded The Astonishing Tribe, which was later acquired by RIM. Every 10 phone released in the third quarter of 2009 contained TAT technology, and more than 350 million phones containing the company’s technology have been sold to date. Previously, Karl-Anders has held positions such as “Technical Director of Research and Innovation”, “Technical Director of Platform Integrations” and simply “Technical Director”. With a solid background in computer graphics and programming on constrained devices, Karl-Anders knows what works on mobile phones.
Mark Grandcolas (CEO). Having been a senior executive in both public (IBM, Sun Microsystems) and private software companies (Pixo, PointBase, Caboodle Networks), he has led startups in the mobile wireless market from inception and venture funding, to successful M&A exit. Previously Director of Business Development at Xerox PARC, Mark is also an advisory board member for Prosent Mobile, a mentor at the Environmental Business Cluster, mentor and national chair at the Cleantech Open, and previously EIR with Plug&Play technology incubator. He has a BS in
engineering from the University of Texas, where he graduated with honors.
